Job summary

A supportive veterinary group is seeking a Business Development Manager to manage a defined customer base and build strong relationships with veterinary clinics. The successful candidate will drive new business and develop contact strategies to reduce member attrition rates. Candidates should have experience in business development or account management, preferably in veterinary sales, along with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. A full UK driving license is also necessary for this position.

  • Experience in business development or increasing sales within an existing customer base.
  • Strong account management skills and evidence of effective contact strategies.
  • Veterinary sales or animal health experience is advantageous.
  • Self-starter with a track record of achieving KPIs.
  • Full UK driving license required.

In this role you'll drive new business, manage your own pipeline, and promote a range of services that support clinical compliance, pet care excellence, and practice growth. About the role
Achieving annual new revenue target by:
  • Planning and executing the appropriate strategies based on an annual target by working cross functionally as well as identifying your own new business opportunities to increase your member base

  • Compiling and presenting proposals to practices clearly identifying an understanding of their needs and providing appropriate solutions through Better Buying and Preferred Product Lists.

  • Managing and following up all interested leads

  • Maintaining the CRM and other reporting platforms to ensure all activity is recorded accurately and all key information relating to your contact with the practice is recorded

  • Attend and participate in various sales meetings / congresses throughout the year

  • Working with third party vendors to generate leads and opportunities leading to commissions

  • Working with manufacturers and third party vendors to generate opportunities for marketing campaigns leading to revenue for the group

Reducing member attrition rate by:
  • Developing a comprehensive contact strategy for your member

  • Promote the use of all member benefits

  • Identifying opportunities for other business units where relevan

  • Answering any complex customer concerns

  • Defending approaches by competitors professionally and using all of the tools provided to you

  • Recording of key conversations effectively and sharing the information with the UKAH where appropriate

About you
  • Experience in business development or increasing sales within an existing customer base

  • Account management. Evidence of building effective contact strategies.

  • Veterinary sales / Animal Health experience advantageous

  • A self-starter with proven track record of achieving KPIs

  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills

  • Presentation skills

  • Organisation, accuracy and attention to detail is extremely important for this role

  • Computer literate (fully competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and CRM Tools)

  • Full UK Driving Licence
