We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher (Remote) to work across a network of schools, supporting leadership teams with social care, safeguarding, inclusion and multi-agency practice. This is a non-teaching, non-QTS role, designed specifically for professionals with a strong social work background who want to apply their expertise at senior leadership level within education.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience in children’s social care, safeguarding leadership, SEND, SEMH, early help or looked-after children services, who are confident operating at a strategic level and influencing whole-school practice.
As Remote Assistant Headteacher, you will work closely with Headteachers and SLT to strengthen systems that support vulnerable pupils and families.
Leading and advising on safeguarding, child protection and social care processes
Supporting schools with multi-agency working, including LAs, CAMHS and external professionals
Advising on SEND, SEMH and inclusion strategies
Supporting staff with behaviour, trauma-informed practice and wellbeing frameworks
Contributing to policy development, audits and inspection readiness
Providing guidance on complex cases involving vulnerability, risk or family need
Supporting leadership decision-making without classroom teaching responsibility
Qualified and experienced Social Worker (or equivalent senior social care professional)
Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and statutory frameworks
Experience working with vulnerable children, families and external agencies
Confident communicator able to advise senior leaders
Comfortable working remotely and autonomously
Fully remote working
Senior leadership-level influence without teaching responsibilities
