Join the World-Class Safety Culture at Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Be part of supporting the largest cloud computing infrastructure team as a Regional Safety Engineer. You will own the Health and Safety function of your respective area, responsible for improving the health and safety of data centers, advancing safety culture, and protecting employees. Collaborate with data center engineers working with electrical equipment, large-scale air handling systems, and critical IT gear.

You will work closely with experts across security, construction, operations, logistics, compliance, legal, and HR to enhance the global health safety program. Partner with employees and contractors to meet safety goals and foster a strong safety culture. As AWS expands data capacity, work with construction managers to identify and mitigate risks before live operations. Adapt to a fast-paced environment with evolving infrastructure, tools, and processes.

This role is suited for an experienced Safety Specialist or Safety Engineer focused on data center safety operations. You will be part of a regional and global team, collaborating with onsite security, vendors, compliance, risk management, and fire safety teams, as well as employees and contractors to meet safety objectives.

Effective communication skills are essential for delivering clear messages verbally, in writing, and in public forums. You will advise, instruct, and train personnel on safety policies and procedures, supporting the integration and improvement of safety standards at various sites.

Reporting to the Regional Safety Manager – Europe, you will work to enhance operational and construction safety, with some domestic and international travel required.

Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Implement safety standards, policies, and best practices.
  2. Manage and deliver safety training, including inductions, refreshers, and manual handling courses. Maintain training records to ensure compliance.
  3. Collaborate with external vendors such as general contractors, subcontractors, and emergency services.
  4. Ensure compliance with global safety programs and local regulations.
  5. Develop safety plans for emergencies, events, and unique safety situations.
  6. Analyze safety data and benchmarking metrics.
  7. Maintain accurate safety records and reporting.
  8. Work with compliance teams on regulation interpretation and investigations.
  9. Develop solutions to eliminate risks and prevent injuries.
  10. Adapt to rapidly changing environments and priorities.
  11. Provide safety support across regions as needed.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • University or Engineering degree in Environmental Science, Health and Safety, or Risk Analysis.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of field experience in Safety.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of French Labour Law, environmental regulations, and ATEX standards.
  • Experience implementing safety programs and documentation.
  • Familiarity with local safety laws, investigations, and workplace safety practices.
  • Experience in data centers, manufacturing, construction, or related industries, including work with both employees and contractors.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable with leadership interactions.
  • High ethical standards, discretion, and diplomacy.
  • Experience in dynamic, fast-growing organizations.
  • Ability to develop departmental goals and strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
