We are looking for a Mainframe Software Engineer for a permanent contract in Lyon (69).

What you will do?
  • Design, code, test, and implement high-quality mainframe software solutions, leveraging your expertise in mainframe technologies, programming languages, and systems.
  • Develop mainframe applications based on business requirements and technical specifications, including coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines in application development and maintenance.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and tune performance of mainframe systems to resolve complex technical issues, utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Stay updated with emerging mainframe technologies, tools, and trends, and recommend their integration into existing systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mainframe systems with other IT infrastructure components.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation; provide training and support to colleagues on mainframe technologies, tools, and best practices.
Who are you?
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in mainframe programming languages and tools (e.g., COBOL, JCL, VSAM, ISPF, SDSF, MQ, IMS DB/DC, OPCE or relevant languages).
  • Knowledge of mainframe databases and data management systems, such as DB2, Assembler, CICS.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders, gather requirements, and perform reverse engineering of legacy applications.
  • Proactive in upskilling and reskilling according to current and future requirements.
  • Professional certifications in mainframe technologies (e.g., IBM) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
  • Experience in modernizing legacy mainframe environments using relevant tools and techniques.
  • Fluent in English.
