Job description
Main Responsibility
- Act as technical owner of all BESS equipment analyses during the phases of basic engineering, RFP preparation, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation.
- Take full technical accountability for recommendations provided to management and procurement, ensuring traceability, justification, and alignment with project objectives.
- Lead technical and commercial evaluations of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) proposals — including PCS, EMS, BMS, DC Blocks, transformers, and auxiliary systems — ensuring full compliance with Jinko Power standards and project requirements.
- Conduct BESS performance analyses, including round-trip efficiency, degradation modelling, DoD and C-rate impact, temperature control, and lifetime estimation under different operational strategies.
- Support Procurement in supplier comparison, scoring, and clarifications, providing clear, data-based recommendations on technical and performance trade-offs.
- Identify and flag potential technical, operational, or warranty risks in supplier proposals, ensuring mitigation measures are addressed before contract signature.
- Participate actively in technical negotiations and contract closure, ensuring that performance guarantees, testing protocols, and interface requirements are clearly defined and traceable.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with OEMs (Huawei, Sungrow, BYD, CATL, EVE, Gotion, etc.), ensuring effective coordination, timely follow-up, and continuous technical communication throughout design, procurement, and construction.
- Ensure full awareness and application of international standards and regulations applicable to BESS and PCS equipment (IEC, IEEE, UL, NFPA, EN, etc.), including safety, grid compliance, and control logic requirements.
- Evaluate and review system control and communication architectures (BMS, EMS, SCADA, PPC), ensuring functional integration, data exchange integrity, and cybersecurity alignment.
- Review and validate engineering documentation (conceptual, basic, and detailed design), ensuring constructability and technical consistency.
- Coordinate closely with Construction during execution and commissioning, participating in FATs, SATs, and site tests to verify compliance and system performance.
- Prepare technical reports, comparative analyses, risk assessments, and design recommendations for management decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in the renewable energy or power sector, with at least 3 years dedicated to BESS engineering, procurement, or construction.
- Proven experience in basic engineering, RFP preparation, supplier evaluation, and technical contract negotiations for energy storage projects.
- Strong understanding of BESS system architecture, including PCS, EMS, BMS, transformers, and auxiliary systems.
- Demonstrated ability to compare and analyze OEM technologies, assess technical advantages, and support commercial discussions.
- Proven experience conducting or witnessing factory and site acceptance tests (FAT / SAT), commissioning, or early operational validation of BESS systems.
- Strong knowledge of communication and control systems (BMS, EMS, SCADA, PPC) and integration requirements.
- Solid understanding of international standards and regulatory frameworks for BESS and PCS (IEC, IEEE, UL, NFPA, EN).
- Excellent coordination and follow-up skills with equipment manufacturers to ensure on‑time delivery of technical information and proper interface alignment.
- Highly autonomous, proactive, and analytical, with ability to manage complex tasks independently and under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Spanish preferred; Polish and Italian are a plus).
- Availability to travel within Europe for supplier meetings, factory testing, and site support.
Preferred Profile
- Direct experience with standalone BESS projects under construction or commissioning for IPPs or EPCs.
- Expertise in BESS performance validation, degradation tracking, and warranty analysis.
- Direct coordination experience with major OEMs (Huawei, Sungrow, BYD, CATL, EVE, Gotion).
- Ability to challenge OEMs technically when needed, maintaining a collaborative yet firm communication style to ensure robust design and performance guarantees.
- Strong ownership, structured work habits, and ability to communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Professional Skills
- Software: AutoCAD, MS Office, QGIS, PVcase (desirable), DIgSILENT, Python, or equivalent analytical tools.
