A progressive space engineering company in Madrid seeks an Electronics Engineer to design and test electronics boards for satellite applications. Ideal candidates will have a degree in electronics or industrial engineering, and 2-3 years of experience. You will work closely with various departments to ensure products meet regulatory standards and performance reliability. This role offers a full-time, indefinite contract in an innovative, flexible working environment.

Overview

Electronics Engineer

FOSSA Systems is a leading space engineering and telecommunications company with 30 employees, specializing in developing and deploying IoT satellite solutions for remote asset management. Leveraging advanced miniaturization and mass production techniques, FOSSA has launched 20 satellites and is actively deploying a groundbreaking satellite constellation to deliver cost-effective, cutting-edge connectivity solutions. With headquarters in Madrid and an R&D centre in Lisbon, FOSSA Systems is at the forefront of innovation in satellite manufacturing, operations, and IoT connectivity.

Responsibilities
  • Design, assemble and test electronics boards prepared for space environments that comply with regulatory standards.
  • Design and execute extensive testing plans to ensure the performance and reliability of electronic components and the systems / sub-systems developed.
  • Work closely with engineers from other departments to achieve effective systems integration.
  • Thoroughly document designs, tests, and procedures to facilitate production and troubleshooting.
  • Optimize Bill of Materials (BOM) cost.
  • Report tasks to the Electronics Department Lead.
Profile
  • Electronic or Industrial Engineer degree or similar.
  • 2 to 3 years of minimum related experience. (Development of related personal projects will be considered as experience).
  • Knowledge of analog and mixed signal components and concepts (ADC, filtering, decoupling, bias voltage / current generation, etc.) and signal integrity on PCB (matching, reflections, etc.).
  • Experience in using PCB design software.
  • Experience handling electronics lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers.
  • Experience with high-speed signal layout and routing.
  • Experience with using hardware platforms and communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, I2C or UART.
  • Familiarity with SDR and RF applications.
  • Familiarity with complex electronic designs that require mixed signal layouts.
  • Familiarity with embedded software programming.
  • Experience soldering THT / SMD components.
  • Technically related personal projects will be valued.
  • Independent worker. Full professional proficiency in English.
Preferably
  • Educational master level.
  • Demonstrable interest in the space sector.
  • Previous experience / participation in student team competitions.
  • Embedded software development skills in C / C++.
  • Previous experience on cubesat systems development.
  • Previous experience on IoT systems development.
  • Previous experience on R&D projects.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards.
  • Familiarity with external test houses for EMC / ESD testing, environmental chambers etc.
  • Familiarity with electronic simulation software.
  • Familiarity with power electronics design and control.
