Senior Short Term Power Trader
Job summary
A leading digital consultancy in Germany is seeking a Senior Short Term Power Trader to develop real-time algorithmic trading strategies across European Power Markets. You will design and implement the trading stack while collaborating with technical teams to build a scalable platform. Ideal candidates will have algorithmic trading experience with strong programming skills, especially in Python. The position requires regular onsite presence in Southern Germany and offers a competitive salary along with a performance bonus.
Qualifications
- 2–7+ years of experience in short term power markets.
- Strong data and programming skills, ideally Python.
- Understanding of European power trading and optimisation beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement the full algorithmic intraday trading stack.
- Collaborate with quants and data engineers for a scalable platform.
- Assess and select vendor platforms through structured RFQ.

Oxygen Digital have partnered with a leading industrial energy organisation undergoing a major expansion of its short term power trading capability. We are looking for a Senior Short Term Power Trader to drive the development of real-time algorithmic trading strategies across Short Term European Power Markets. You will join a highly technical team building a next generation automated trading environment within a complex, asset-backed trading ecosystem.
- Design and implement the full algorithmic intraday trading stack, integrating vendor solutions and off-the-shelf models where appropriate.
- Build data and digital connections across internal platforms, data lakes and quant resources to enable automated execution with minimal manual intervention.
- Define trading logics, decision trees and optimisation methods across intraday, continuous and auction markets.
- Assess and select vendor platforms through structured RFQ, prioritise delivery scope and make informed build / buy decisions.
- Collaborate closely with quants, data engineers and balancing teams to deliver a scalable, commercially effective platform.
- Architect level experience with hands on algorithmic trading exposure in short term power markets (2–7+ years).
- Strong data and programming skills, ideally Python; C++ advantageous.
- Power market expertise preferred; finance algo backgrounds considered.
- Understanding of European power trading, renewables and optimisation beneficial.

€80,000-100,000 Plus performance bonus
