Job summary
A leading investment firm in Berlin is seeking an experienced Investment Director / Investment Manager to establish and scale its private equity arm. You will be responsible for end-to-end deal execution and enhancing portfolio value. The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of experience in private equity or investment banking and is fluent in both German and English. This position offers the opportunity to join a high-calibre investment team with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years’ experience in private equity, investment banking, transaction advisory, or strategy consulting.
- Demonstrated ability to originate, analyse, and execute mid-market transactions.
- Strong commercial judgement and understanding of operational value creation.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on attitude.
Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate attractive mid-market investment opportunities across Germany.
- Lead financial modelling, due diligence, structuring, and negotiation of transactions.
- Build actionable investment hypotheses and present recommendations to the Investment Committee.
- Work directly with management teams to drive strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and M&A.
- Develop relationships with advisors, entrepreneurs, and intermediaries to build a proprietary deal pipeline.

Our client is a highly regarded international investment platform with a strong track record in entrepreneurship, growth capital, and operational value creation. The fund will pursue sector-agnostic, control investments in companies generating around €5–10 million EBITDA, with a focus on unlocking value through digitisation, professionalisation, and buy-and-build strategies.
As Investment Director / Investment Manager, you’ll play a key role in establishing and scaling the private equity arm. Working closely with the founding partners, you’ll be responsible for end-to-end deal execution and ongoing portfolio value creation.
This is an opportunity to join a high-calibre investment team at an early stage, combining the agility of a new platform with the institutional backing of an established investor.
- Origination: Identify and evaluate attractive mid-market investment opportunities across Germany.
- Execution: Lead financial modelling, due diligence, structuring, and negotiation of transactions.
- Investment Thesis Development: Build actionable investment hypotheses and present recommendations to the Investment Committee.
- Portfolio Management: Work directly with management teams to drive strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and M&A.
