Job Posting: Contract Production Line Scheduler

Availability: Full-time with an ability to work mornings, afternoons, holidays and occasional overtime and weekends.

Reporting to the Room Management Team (RMT), the Line Scheduler is responsible for using production planning best practices to support Manufacturing in achieving optimized production schedules. The Line Scheduler will utilize the planning systems to generate daily/weekly production plans and firm production schedules ensuring that we optimize people, equipment, and process. The Line Scheduler must have strong computer skills, good knowledge of scheduling and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with multiple production rooms and Room Management Teams (RMT) to develop the optimal sequence of products, minimize changeover times, and appropriate batch sizes to maximize efficiencies.
  • Proactively communicate with their RMT regarding any room capacity changes, preventative maintenance windows, and labour/material constraints.
  • Participate in overall business updates related to the S&OP Process as required
  • Actively participate as part of the Business Process Team in Continuous Improvement on Production Planning Best Practices
  • Analyze the rooms' performance to attainment and fulfillment be part of the team to improve the process.
  • Establish a weekly meeting with the Room Managers, Inventory Controllers, Floor Supervisors, to ensure the schedules are accepted and all appropriate resources are in place for success.
  • Ensure Room Management teams are proactively engaged in processes when fulfillment, or launches may be at risk
  • Generate daily production schedules and distribute to RMT, Floor Supervisors, Compounding and Distro/Goods-In teams
  • As necessary, revise daily production plans based on changes component / raw material availability or consumer demand, working closely with the Inventory Controllers to ensure production goals.
  • Ensure that production plans and schedules are set accurately to ensure optimized customer fulfillment and freshness while also maintaining appropriate safety stock levels
  • Collaborate with Inventory controllers, Buying and Freight teams to ensure that necessary raw materials and components are available on time to meet production demands
  • Frequently communicate with rooms to ensure they have a good understanding of the schedule, and the priorities, to enable the right prioritization should any disruptions occur in production, particularly during extended shifts.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement abilities by reviewing processes and making refinements to continuously evolve effectiveness of Lush planning processes in conjunction with the room’s capacity and routes.
  • Train back-up planners to ensure adequate coverage is available
Qualifications

Required:

  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX, RF Smart handheld scanners)
  • General understanding of production lines, processes, routings, and product compounding
  • Confident with basic mathematics, an ability to count, and accurate addition/subtraction skills
  • Comfortable navigating things such as email, MS Office suite, and Google programs (i.e. Sheets, Chat, Meet)
  • Maintain a positive attitude, remain engaged in your work, and be a team player
  • Excellent communication skills, and problem-solving abilities with a strong sense of urgency while staying calm under pressure
  • Patient, gets curious and is strategic when tackling last minute asks from managers and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and organize multiple tasks
  • Exceptional analytical, attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Familiar with labour requirements (time, staff, equipment, materials etc.)
  • Reliable, consistent attendance, punctual and dependable

Preferred:

  • Experience holding a Line Scheduling, Production Planning, and/or Inventory Controlling position
  • Experience with inventory control/management
  • Experience with overseeing scheduling, especially in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Experience in an AX Function support role
  • Accustomed to working in a highly seasonal, high pressure environment
  • Flexible to work shift work and occasional overtime
