Define your career and your future.

At Next Environmental Inc., we are specialists in Contaminated Sites investigation and remediation. We focus on properly understanding our clients' business goals and how we can help them navigate the technical complexities of municipal, provincial, and federal regulations towards the goal of facilitating transactions and achieving regulatory compliance.

We strive to remove ourselves from the typical engineering firm model and see ourselves similar to a fast-growing start-up company. One of our core philosophies is that we build the company around the team members we have. At Next, you'll have the opportunity to define the direction of your career with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to guide you and advance your career in the environmental consulting industry.

The Role:

Next Environmental is currently seeking a Contaminated Sites Project Manager to join our team. This role is 100% flexible between office and working from home, with our teams located in Burnaby, Victoria, Kelowna, and Prince George. Don't worry about working alone, because you will have a network of team members to help you along the way who have extensive experience in the field! Your main job responsibilities are:

  • Independently manage and lead a variety of Environmental Investigation projects, such as Phase I and II (or Stage 1 and 2) assessments, Detailed Site Investigation, remediation, sampling programs, and supplemental investigations;
  • Prepare the scoping, budgets, and execution of environmental investigations, environmental management programs and plans including research, guidance on field programs, and technical report writing and review;
  • Provide mentorship and support for our Site investigation team members;
  • Engage with clients, subcontractors and third-party stakeholders, providing clear communications on complex issues to move projects forward;
  • Work alongside our internal business unit to create innovative solutions to support achieving our client’s business objectives;
  • Maintain systems for recording and tracking all project documentation using project management software to ensure organized and accessible records;
  • Monitor and review project budgets and expenses to ensure optimal project performance; and
  • Ensure staff meet, maintain, or exceed health and safety requirements, and foster an environment that prioritizes safety in the workplace.

The Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a science field related to the environment, including Environmental Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, Biology, etc.
  • A Professional designation, or the ability to obtain registration within 6 months as a P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Chem, P.Ag or R.P.Bio. is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Contaminated Sites, including at least two years in a project coordination or management role.
  • Working knowledge of the BC Environmental Management Act and Contaminated Sites Regulations, as well as the supporting protocols and technical guidance documents.

The Perks:

  • Collaborative and innovative work is our philosophy. Next thrives in exploring how things can be done differently to meet, and often exceed, our client’s and project goals. We encourage you to provide input on our processes and procedures, as all ideas are worth exploring;
  • We offer a competitive salary that is constantly re-evaluated based on merit and market conditions;
  • This role is also eligible for a year-end bonus program based on individual and company performance, which increases in percentage based on years worked;
  • Other benefits include full medical/dental coverage, 4 weeks paid vacation, group RRSP contributions, and other great perks such as extra days off at Christmas/New Years with years worked;
  • We encourage and foster a strong social and team culture at Next and offer regular events for our team, including barbecues, potlucks, wine and paint nights, trips to the driving range, pet meetups, and more;
  • We embrace the hybrid work environment. All team members will be set up to work from home or remotely, from day one. However, we would also love to work with you in person at our pet-friendly collaborative workspace, fully stocked with snacks (and drinks for those Friday afternoon wrap-up sessions!).

The salary range for this role is between $90,000 to $120,000.The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
