LAW is an interdisciplinary clinic combining legal and social work professions to meet the multi-faceted needs of the low-income community in Windsor and Essex County. The Housing Support Worker performs within a team environment to provide advocacy and support to at-risk and/or exploited youth under the age of 24. This position reports to the Project Coordinator and provides input to and consults with the Windsor Essex Counter Exploitation Network (WECEN) Advisory Committee.
The worker reports to the Coordinator of Social Work Services and collaborates with the Coordinating Committee. Responsibilities include providing housing supports based on the capacities and needs of survivors, assessing strengths and needs, understanding the housing system, and advocating for adequate and affordable housing regardless of where the survivor enters the housing continuum.
Key duties include assessment, counselling, case management, crisis intervention, advocacy, and referral regarding emergency and long-term housing. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
