Okanagan College, IT Services Department – Reports to the Manager, IT Security and the Security Architect, Team Lead. The Junior Security Analyst is responsible for daily IT security operations, identity and access management (IAM), security monitoring, incident response, and security awareness across on‑premises and cloud environments.

• Oversee the College’s Identity and Access Management (IAM), reviewing, granting or removing user accounts, groups, network and application access, and managing Single Sign‑On (SSO) integration across hybrid environments.
• Regularly review and track security alerts, logs, and notifications from tools such as IDS, WAF, SIEM, and investigate anomalies to ensure responsive actions are taken.
• Participate in IT Security projects, including device, system, OS, and software patching, penetration testing, threat hunting, vulnerability testing, and patch verification.
• Assist with administrative security audits and assessments, report findings to management, and recommend solutions to mitigate risk and improve security posture.
• Participate in incident response and support activities, including detection, investigation, mitigation, reporting, and remediation of security incidents, breaches, data disclosure and privacy issues.
• Act as a champion for IT Security within the College – engage in continuous training, research emerging threats, deliver security training and awareness activities, and collaborate with peers to stay current with best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Security or related field.
• 1–2 years of relevant cybersecurity or IAM experience.
• Knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD, SAML, OAuth, MFA, and SSO technologies.
• Experience with Windows and Linux system administration, command‑line tools, and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Familiarity with security tools and practices – intrusion detection, web application firewalls, SIEM, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyze logs and network traffic.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear reports and facilitate training.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently or in a team under limited supervision.

• Professional certifications such as CEH, CompTIA Security+, GIAC, OSCP, CISSP, or equivalent.

• Full‑time, 35 hours per week (schedule Monday–Friday, negotiable).
• Salary range: $61,753–$70,561 annually, plus standard benefits.
• Hybrid work flexibility available.
