Description

Senior Manager, Project Management Office

Nova Scotia

Are you ready for a new career journey at Nova Scotia's largest credit union? Join our dedicated team at East Coast Credit Union, where commitment to community, member satisfaction, and financial excellence are the foundation of everything we do.

East Coast Credit Union is a community-driven financial institution committed to a better banking model. A credit union is like a bank in many ways, but with cooperative ownership and special focus on people, not profits. We redefine the definition of local and bring Nova Scotians from many regions together with honest lending, savings, and investment products. Be part of an organization committed to fostering growth and empowering individuals on our team and in our East Coast community.

Reporting to the Vice President of IT & Innovation, the Senior Manager, Project Management Office (PMO) provides enterprise-wide leadership for East Coast Credit Union’s project management function. This role leads the PMO team and is responsible for the development and operational oversight of project intake and portfolio management, ensuring the timely and valuable delivery of initiatives across the organization. Working closely with the executive team and engaging with internal and external partners at all levels, the Senior Manager, PMO actively manages the organizational project roadmap, leveraging performance metrics and continuously enhancing practices to drive success. Acting as both a strategic leader and hands-on contributor, the incumbent embeds project management and change management best practices, fosters cross-functional collaboration, and builds organizational capability to advance ECCU’s long-term objectives.

The Senior Manager, PMO represents the Credit Union in a positive and professional manner while adhering to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

We offer
  • An outstanding culture and opportunity to join an engaged and community-focused team.
  • Competitive compensation ($100,982.93- 119,556.92) and performance-based incentives.
  • Assistance with immigration through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) - we are a designated employer.
  • Generous benefit package including a Flexible Health and Dental Plan (paid 100% by employer) and up to 9% contribution with employer match in the Defined Contribution Pension Plan.
  • Tuition reimbursement, training, and personal development.
  • Employee perks such as annual wellness credit; reduced rates on employee loans/mortgages and paid volunteer time.
Your Focus
  • Lead and coach the PMO team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Manage direct reports, including work allocation, training, development, and performance management. Provide feedback, address performance issues, and make personnel decisions in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Communicate organizational priorities, policies, and key updates to ensure staff remain engaged and informed.
  • Develop, implement, and enhance project management methodologies, standards, policies, tools, and best practices.
  • Maintain the corporate project repository and roadmap, ensuring accurate documentation, tracking of key metrics, and timely reporting to Executive leadership.
  • Conduct project audits to assess adherence to methodology, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
  • Align project execution with the Credit Union’s strategy, leading the successful and timely delivery of key initiatives.
  • Use data and insights to inform leadership decisions on performance, productivity, risk, capacity, cost, quality, and ROI.
  • Act as a ‘player-coach,’ managing select projects from initiation to benefits realization.
  • Design and deliver training programs (group and individual) on project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Provide coaching and advice to partners on project planning, risk management, resource allocation, deliverables, and communications.
  • Strengthen organizational project management capabilities by embedding change management practices across the project lifecycle.
  • Guide and support cross-functional teams to ensure clear expectations, timelines, and resources are in place for project success.
  • Provide input and recommendations on process improvements, partner engagement, and communication strategies.
  • Represent the Credit Union at community events, system meetings, and industry conferences.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support organizational success.
You Have
  • Successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
  • A minimum seven years of progressive experience in Project Management, including three to five years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the financial services industry, with strong knowledge of operations, compliance, and risk frameworks, is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
You Are
  • An expert in project and portfolio management, resource planning, and change management, with strong knowledge of both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with advanced research and problem-solving abilities, sound judgment, and strong risk management knowledge.
  • Skilled in fiscal management, budgeting, and planning, with a proven ability to develop project management processes, procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • A capable trainer, coach, and leader of high-performing teams, with expertise in group facilitation and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • An excellent communicator with strong oral and written skills.

Note: All offers of employment are conditional upon the acceptance of an Individual Fidelity Bond Application which includes a criminal check and a credit check.
