Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre (WHCC) has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN). This position will report to the Unit Manager - Wetaskiwin and will support the medical unit. The RN will be committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for colleagues, care providers, patients and families. The RN will also work as a member of a health care team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of the patients/clients. The RN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care and should expect to work to their full scope of practice. This position offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development within a variety of teams. Your orientation will consist of online learning, classroom time and buddy shifts to the unit. Extended orientation for new grads is available. The place of work is in a community designated for Canada Student Loan Forgiveness. Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre is a large rural hospital with 3 inpatient units ranging from 16 - 27 beds. The facility also includes an Emergency department, Operating Rooms, an Obstetrical unit, and other community outpatient programs such as Endoscopy, rehabilitation services, Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. Wetaskiwin is a city rich in history, culture and diversity. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Strong communication skills both written and orally.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum (1) year employment as a registered nurse in acute care in the last (3) years. Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale. Connect Care experience. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training course.
