Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Fort St. John Hospital.

The Registered Nurse (RN) practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and within a patient and family-centered care model. The Registered Nurse (RN) practices in a variety of clinical settings and works collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to patients in an acute medical unit.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work

Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating)

Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre

Fort St. John Hospital has 44 Acute Care beds and 124 residential beds and is equipped to handle 22,000 ER visits per year. Highlights:

  • Endoscopy suite, 2 state-of-the-art operating rooms, plus a procedure room
  • Ambulatory clinics including Cancer and Hemodialysis
  • Medical and Surgical inpatient rooms (40 beds)
  • 3 Intensive care units
  • Minor surgeries
  • 7 single Maternity rooms for Labour, Delivery, and Post-Partum
  • Health Unit and Primary Care Clinic serve the community.

Fort St. John is known as "The Energetic City," reflecting its resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture. The town is located above the Peace River Valley and serves as the capital of the Peace River district. The population is over 21,400, and it services an area of approximately 70,000. The community is the hub of the Northeast with a cultural centre and library, theatre, and art space. There are seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and one secondary school. Qualifications
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing RN registrant.

  • Using factual information, prior learning and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research‑based evidence. Integrates best practice from nursing and health‑related disciplines and the humanities, arts and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
