This is an opportunity to grow your leadership experience for the Assistant Head Nurse position for Red Deer Protective Safe House, home of the PChAD program. You will work to ensure the biopsychosocial needs of the patients and families are met in concert. You will help to ensure gaps in system are identified, support frontline unit needs, participate and collaborate with PChAD provincial to support working groups, and support feedback and professional development with the front line. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support our young clients and their families through the path of care continuum. They will be responsible for daily care to our patients, liaising with the families and medical team, and being a part of the overall treatment team. Red Deer has an overarching Children's Team focus, supporting all other programs in the portfolio as needed. You understand the complex relationships between the youth's physical, emotional, mental, developmental, and spiritual health. You will be patient centered and family centered in your care practices, following AHS Values and Policies. As a Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN), you will provide mentorship and leadership within the team environment based on your scope of practice and skill set. An ability to create strong relationships with the youth, families, and our team are a critical asset to this position. You have strong assessment skills, ability to use critical thinking, flexibility, and ability to work in a high paced and acute environment. This will be a multisite post in order to support the Children's Portfolio and will include Red Deer Provincial Building, Step Up Step Down, and Red Deer Protective Safe House. As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years' experience working within a children's addiction and mental health program. Strong computer literacy is essential, including experience with Excel, Meditech, Netcare, and ASIST systems. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:
