A modern marine terminal in Prince Rupert is seeking an Electrical Superintendent to oversee electrical maintenance and lead a team of skilled personnel. The ideal candidate has significant experience in heavy industrial operations and a strong background in managing unionized workforces. This role emphasizes safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within a growing organization.
Trigon Pacific Terminals Ltd. ("Trigon"), is a modern, deep-sea marine terminal located in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, on the northwest coast of Canada. Established in 1983, Trigon provides an export point for natural resources from North America to Asia and other global markets. With an annual shipping capacity of 18.5 million tonnes, Trigon is a year-round, 24-hour operation, offering high-quality, high-performance services, safely and efficiently and delivered by a highly skilled local team, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, Local 523. Their focus is on the handling and export of natural resources produced in Western Canada — products which continue to be in high demand around the world for their superior quality.
Trigon is in the midst of executing a longer-term diversification strategy. A strategy which will see them continue to deliver unsurpassed service quality and performance outcomes to their existing customers, while expanding the range of the commodities they handle and building out their infrastructure accordingly.
An opportunity now exists for Trigon to hire an Electrical Superintendent to join the team. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role will lead a team of 20 personnel, including both salaried and unionized staff. The Electrical Superintendent will be responsible for leading all aspects of electrical maintenance across the terminal, including planned shutdowns, preventative maintenance programs, continued automation on stackers and ship loaders and most importantly, providing leadership and guidance to a highly capable electrical team. Trigon will be looking to this Electrical Superintendent to drive accountability, establish structure and consistency within the team, and foster a culture of high-performance.
As the ideal candidate, you bring deep electrical experience from a material bulk handling, mining, rail, or similar heavy industrial operation. You have managed a unionized workforce and created training and development programs focused on improving performance and accountability. You are a decisive and motivational leader with the ability to set clear expectations, inspire performance and foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Based in Prince Rupert, this is an opportunity for an effective people leader to join a growing organization whose mission is to operate as an open-access, commercially sustainable enterprise with a safe and rewarding work environment.
In accordance with BC’s Pay Transparency Act, the expected base salary range for this role is $160,000 – 170,000 plus incentive compensation and benefits but may vary based on the successful candidate.
