Veterinary Technician Assistant - Referral Surgery

Lake Country, BC

Tri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre in Winfield, BC, is relaunching their Referral Surgery service this fall. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated full-time Veterinary Tech Assistant to join our growing surgery team in September 2025.

Our specialty surgery service is fully equipped and overseen by a board-certified Small Animal Surgery Specialist with experience in multi-disciplinary referral hospitals. Prior experience with referral surgery is NOT required; however, experience in general practice veterinary surgery is essential. We seek someone interested in surgery and anesthesia, passionate about patient care, team-oriented, well-organized, detail-focused, and relationship-driven. We support your growth through onsite training as part of our surgery team.

Located in beautiful Lake Country, VCA Canada Tri Lake has served the community for over 40 years. We are a full-service animal hospital near Kelowna and Vernon, equipped with an in-house laboratory, ultrasound, digital radiology, and in-house CT scanner. Our team is committed to continuous learning and providing excellent care for pets and clients.

Why We Need You

You will work directly with our Surgery Specialist to assist with pre-, peri-, and post-operative care. Our diverse cases offer excellent learning opportunities. The role requires excellent time management, attention to detail, and proactive participation in maintaining high patient care standards.

The skills you will develop include:

• Patient restraint and lifting
• Assisting with radiographs pre- and post-operatively
• Assisting with CT scans
• Collecting and submitting lab samples
• Preparing medications and supplies for clients
• Handling and sterilizing surgical equipment
• Maintaining composure in stressful situations
• Demonstrating enthusiasm and initiative

Compensation: $ to $ per hour, dependent on experience and skills.
