Our Ideal Candidate
As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance to the Project Managers and project teams. Your primary focus will be resource forecasting and planning, scheduling, and implementing standardized project controls processes. This includes cost tracking, earned value management (EVM), schedule variance analysis, forecasting, risk assessment, project reporting, and quality KPI tracking. As a member of the team, you will be given opportunities to apply your education and experience on complex projects. You will be challenged to manage multiple priorities and projects, meet tight deadlines, and ensure successful project execution.
A Day in the Life
As a Project Controller, you will work closely with Project Managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. You will support the PMs in decision-making by providing accurate financial analysis, schedule insights, and risk assessments. Your role will be integral to maintaining project health, identifying potential issues early, and implementing corrective actions to keep projects on track. This collaboration is key to ensuring successful project execution and continuous improvement in project performance.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in project controls, scheduling, or a related role in the engineering consulting industry.
- Proficiency in scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project).
- High Level understanding of project scheduling principles including critical path method, proper use of predecessors and successors as well as overall project scheduling methodology.
- Experience with ERP systems (BST10 preferred) for project cost tracking and reporting.
- Knowledge of earned value management (EVM) principles, including cost performance index (CPI) and schedule performance index (SPI).
- Understanding of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and how they apply to scheduling and cost tracking.
- Experience in monitoring project progress, identifying risks and delays, and applying corrective actions.
- Ability to generate project status reports, conduct schedule variance and cost variance analysis, and provide financial tracking.
- Experience with trend analysis and forecasting to support project decision-making.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy in reporting and data tracking.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- A PMP designation is an asset.
- Adaptability and flexibility, including the ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity, and change.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as the role requires continuous interaction with team members in multiple geographical locations.
