A leading university in Canada is seeking a qualified candidate for the Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Marine Carbon Transformation. The successful applicant will focus on marine biomass transformation into value-added products while fostering a strong research program. Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Agriculture invites applications for a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Marine Carbon Transformation at the level of Full Professor. We are seeking outstanding candidates with an excellent track record of expertise in areas related to chemical engineering and renewable carbon capture and utilization. Research in this area must examine transformation of marine biomass into value-added products such as biofuels, chemicals, and biocarbon materials, effectively turning carbon sources into long term carbon sinks, as well as enhance oceanic CO₂ absorption and utilization using innovative engineering approaches. The research should also examine innovative approaches for oceanic CO2 capture through nature-based and human engineered approaches.
The successful applicant will hold a PhD in a discipline related to chemical engineering and renewable carbon capture and utilization, related to transformation of marine biomass into value-added products such as biofuels, chemicals, and biocarbon materials.
The successful candidate will be evaluated on their reputation as an international leader in the field of chemical engineering and renewable marine carbon capture and will be expected to develop a strong externally funded, internationally recognized research program. The successful candidate must be eligible for and committed to registration as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia. We seek a team-player and team-builder who can forge synergies within and between academia and industry. We want a clear and stimulating communicator who can inspire students of all levels, support Faculty initiatives, and participate in growing the reputation of the Faculty and University. The successful candidate will have a reduced teaching requirement but will be engaged with students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
