Job description

Are you an experienced Environmental Planner and skillful at balancing environmental protection with engineering requirements? Do you thrive completing impact assessments with a skilled multi-disciplinary team of environmental specialists and engineers? Then we have the team for you!

We are looking for an individual with at least 3 years of experience, who is passionate about building on Dillon’s strong reputation for completing innovative Environmental Assessments.

Are you an experienced Environmental Planner/Environmental Impact Assessment Specialist with strong leadership and technical capabilities that is skillful at balancing environmental protection with engineering requirements? Do you enjoy building relationships and working collaboratively in a team environment with both internal and external stakeholders? You will be a member of Dillon’s Environmental Planning Group and work with our biologists, environmental scientists, planners and engineers located in our offices across Canada. You will be key part of our multi-disciplinary group serving our diverse range of public and private sector clients across Canada.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

As a key team member, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage/Lead projects for public and private sector clients related to Environmental Assessment (EA), environmental permitting and approvals, and environmental compliance monitoring, with a focus on Linear infrastructure EAs (Municipal Class EA, MTO, Hydro One, Metrolinx)
  • Develop and lead innovative public and agency consultation programs
  • Build client relationships through identification of market opportunities, client communications, preparation of proposals, and business development activities

  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • A university degree or post-undergraduate college diploma in planning, environmental studies, biology, applied planning, ecology, or a related field
  • 3 to 8 years’ experience, preferably in the consulting industry, with an emphasis on linear infrastructure EAs
  • Valid Class G Driver’s license
  • Eligibility for full membership or candidate membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute is considered an asset
Experience

Ideally, your experience can demonstrate the following:

  • Successful delivery of Class EAs for linear infrastructure. Experience with individual EAs would be considered an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant municipal, provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements
  • Experience in the design and delivery of stakeholder and Indigenous Community engagement programs, including the use of innovative virtual engagement tools
  • Experience in business development activities including client development and responding to RFPs
  • Environmental management during construction, including developing environmental management plans, on-site monitoring and documentation, is considered an asset
