Overview

Join Our Team as an Operating Room Nurse at Quinte Health! If you are a highly skilled and compassionate nurse looking to make a difference, Quinte Health is seeking dedicated Operating Room (OR) Nurses to join our inter-professional care team. This role offers dual-site opportunities at Trenton Memorial Hospital for short, outpatient surgeries and Belleville General Hospital for more complex procedures with acutely ill patients. The position involves care for both pediatric and adult patients across a wide range of procedures.

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care for preoperative and perioperative patients.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
  • Uphold the highest standards of nursing practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and ORNAC (Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada).

Required Qualifications
  • Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ operating room experience, as an RN, in the last 5 years.
  • Completed Post Graduate Operating Room Certificate.
  • Current certification in BCLS or CPR, or proof of enrolment in a recertification course. A copy of your valid certificate must be provided at time of hire/transfer.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Available to work all shifts (days, evenings, weekends) and on call duty.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills.
  • Satisfactory work performance and attendance in current position.
  • Capability to cope with a physically demanding workload. A Physical Demands Analysis is available to review.
  • Medical Surveillance is required for personnel routinely working with mechanical equipment and lasers used in the OR. A hearing test and eye exam must be arranged.
Duties
  • Utilize the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Provide preoperative teaching to patients and families as required.
  • Perform acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgment in assessing health needs and in planning, administering and evaluating patient care in the clinic environment (circulating/scrub/laser nurse roles).
  • Collaborate with other health care team members to provide patient care.
  • Maintain nursing records.
  • Participate in quality improvement programs to ensure a high level of patient care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
