Jobbeschreibung

Clio is more than just a tech company–we are a global leader that is transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice.

Summary

We are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our Finance team. This is a hybrid role that requires a combination of remote work and in-office presence, with mandatory attendance at our Burnaby office two days per week.

Our Finance team is hyper-focused on becoming one of the most high performing teams in the world. That means we work hard, play for keeps, and dedicate ourselves to making sure #TeamMoney thrives as we scale. You will be joining a high performing and hard-working team that values having fun at work. We strive to meet our deadlines, but as with all accountants - we worship balance as well. Your position will be an integral part of the team.

What You’ll Do

As the A/P Supervisor, you’ll lead the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable function while providing direct leadership, coaching, and support to the AP team. You’ll be responsible for ensuring adherence to policies and internal controls, maintaining the integrity of AP data and documentation, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. This role also oversees vendor management, payment processes, audit preparation, and drives ongoing process optimization through cross-functional collaboration and system enhancements.

Core Responsibilities

PO Workflow & AP Run Oversight

  • Oversee and manage the end-to-end Purchase Order workflow, ensuring alignment with budget controls, appropriate approvals in Coupa, and accurate coding to the correct GL accounts and departments.
  • Own the full lifecycle of the weekly AP run, including pre-run validation, exception handling, batch processing, and approvals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of pay runs in accordance with internal policies and cash flow planning.

Team Leadership & Operations Oversight

  • Lead and mentor junior AP staff, fostering performance, accountability, and growth.
  • Oversee timely and accurate invoice entry, reimbursement processing, and vendor communication.
  • Provide guidance on issue resolution, escalations, and policy compliance across AP operations.

System Optimization & Integrity

  • Serve as a Coupa and NetSuite functional lead for AP operations, supporting configuration and system-driven controls.
  • Oversee system access reviews, user provisioning, and audit logging in collaboration with IT and Finance Systems.
  • Drive automation and reporting improvements to increase process efficiency and data accuracy.

Vendor Management

  • Supervise vendor onboarding and compliance reviews, ensuring proper documentation (e.g., tax forms) and approval routing.
  • Maintain and regularly review vendor master data for accuracy, completeness, and potential duplicates, ensuring alignment with internal controls and audit standards.

Process Control & SOX Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and enforce AP policies and internal controls to support SOX compliance and mitigate financial risks.
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties, approval hierarchies, and change control procedures within finance systems.
  • Monitor for and address risks related to vendor payments, invoice processing, and corporate card usage.

Month-End Close & Reporting

  • Support month-end AP close procedures including accruals, reconciliations, and AP Aging
  • Partner with Financial Reporting and FP&A to ensure AP data is accurate, complete, and supports timely financial reporting.
  • Analyze AP trends and metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency and compliance improvements.

Audit & Documentation

  • Own AP documentation management, including maintaining up-to-date procedures, checklists, audit evidence, and supporting files.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors to support walkthroughs, evidence collection, and control testing.

What You May Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in Accounts Payable, including direct team management and leadership.
  • Hands-on experience with Coupa and NetSuite
  • Strong understanding of procure-to-pay (P2P) processes, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
  • Value operational excellence and doing things right.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and deadline-oriented.
  • Clear, concise, articulate, and professional communication—both written and verbal—with the ability to tailor messages to all levels of the organization.

Serious Bonus Points If You Have

  • Knowledge of ITGCs, policy governance, and risk management frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Treasury functions, including payments and corporate card programs.
  • Experience working in a high-growth or rapidly scaling environment.
