The Opportunity
McElhanney is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic
Junior Survey Technologist to join our growing team in
Lloydminster, AB.
This is a great entry-level opportunity for recent technical school graduates or individuals with hands-on field experience who are ready to start or grow their career in Geomatics . You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, receive hands-on training, and contribute to projects across the oil & gas, construction, and municipal sectors.
This role is designated as a safety sensitive position.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Support field survey crews by assisting with the setup and operation of survey equipment.
- Learn to collect data for engineering, legal, construction, and oil & gas projects.
- Assist with preparing field notes, sketches, and data logs under guidance.
- Work in both urban and remote field environments; some travel and camp work may be required.
- Support team members in ensuring compliance with McElhanney’s safety and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors to ensure project success.
What You’ll Bring:
- Completion of a Survey or Geomatics Technologist diploma from a recognized technical school, or practical field experience in surveying.
- Strong interest in a field-based, hands-on technical career.
- Willingness to work in various environmental and weather conditions, including remote areas.
- Physical ability to lift and carry survey equipment and gear.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving record.
- Basic computer and math skills; GPS and Total Station knowledge is an asset.
- Must pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.

The salary range for this position is
$25-$35 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting.
