Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Mechatronics Engineering (MIME) in the Faculty of Engineering & Architectural Science invites applications for a tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Mechatronics Engineering focusing on Mechatronics/Robotics, effective July 1 2026, subject to final budgetary approval.

Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is committed to addressing the under‑representation of faculty who identify as women in Science and Engineering. Successful candidates will enhance the department’s work with community connections, diverse perspectives, knowledge, and lived experiences in teaching, scholarly research, creative activities, and service.

The successful applicant will self‑identify as a woman and demonstrate strong potential for excellence in teaching, research/creative activity, and service while maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial environment.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervising students, and developing curriculum. The candidate will also pursue an externally funded, innovative research program that produces cutting‑edge, high‑quality results.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical‑Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field by the appointment date.

Required Evidence
  • Strong background in theoretical/experimental mechatronics/robotics that complements the research of the Mechatronics Engineering group.
  • Emerging scholarly research or creative activity that is current, innovative, and impactful, demonstrated by peer‑reviewed publications, conference presentations, community outreach, grants, research‑related awards, and other relevant outputs.
