Job summary

An educational council in Northwestern Ontario is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to support the Executive Director and senior management. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong organizational and interpersonal skills, manage tasks independently, and have experience with Microsoft Office. A background in office administration is required, with fluency in Oji-Cree, Cree or Ojibway as an asset. A salary will be determined based on education and experience.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in office/business administration and/or the equivalent of two years related office experience.
  • Proficiency and experience in Microsoft is mandatory.
  • Exceptional organizational skills while paying attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
  • Fluency in Oji-Cree, Cree or Ojibway is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare reports, letters, memoranda, and other documents.
  • Support the Executive Director and Board with tasks as requested.
  • Plan meetings and take detailed minutes.
  • Manage phone calls and provide information.
  • Schedule appointments and make travel arrangements.
  • Prepare purchase orders and maintain petty cash fund.
  • Coordinate Board and Committee meetings.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes.
