A healthcare trust in Torbay is seeking a dedicated Sister/Charge Nurse for their Special Care Baby Unit. The role involves providing compassionate nursing care to neonates, working closely with a multidisciplinary team, and leading a small team to ensure high standards of care. Ideal candidates will be NMC Registered and have experience in a neonatal environment. This position offers the chance to make a significant impact on infant care in a supportive and dynamic setting.

We are looking for a passionate, dynamic, and well organised new member of our team who wants to make a difference. You will join our team to provide high levels of compassionate nursing care to babies and their families and join us in our development forwards.
Our Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) is a busy Level 1 unit providing 10 cots in total. Comprising of 2 HDU cots and 4 special care cots, and a newly established 4 bedded Transitional Care department. We provide gold standard care to babies and their families from 32 weeks gestation, but also provide stabilisation for babies born before this gestation, or critically ill term neonates prior to retrieval by the Peninsula Neonatal Transport Team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, innovative Qualified In Speciality (Q.I.S) nurses to work effectively within our SCBU unit and across the Child Health department. You should possess an RN, RSCN, RN Child, or RM qualification. Completion of the Neonatal Modules is desirable although a willingness to work towards achieving them would be considered. Experience of working within a neonatal environment is desirable and evidence of Leadership and change management in the clinical area would be beneficial. We provide a supportive, friendly environment with the neonate and their family at the centre of everything we do.

We are a small team who is able to share the journey of our families forwards into the health of Torbay. We work closely with our 0‑19 and health visiting teams, our maternity colleagues and the entire Child Health department.
The main duties of the Sister/Charge nurse are to co‑ordinate the shift whilst maintaining a calm and professional attitude. You will help in the day‑to‑day running of the unit, whilst helping to support the team around you to be able to deliver a high standard of care.
The expectation will be that the role will be used to support the Ward Manager and other Band 6 colleagues and take on active Leadership roles including sickness management, appraisals and staff support after a period of induction and training.
