The Role

We’re seeking a passionate and driven individual to join the Payments and Core Banking Engineering (PCBE) team as a champion of value‑driven delivery. In this dynamic and fast‑paced environment, you’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, grow your expertise, and make a tangible impact in the competitive, trillion‑dollar payments and banking industry. Is this role right for you?
  • Lead Engineering teams to deliver on Fraud Prevention capabilities on the Cash Management Online Channel through planning, discovery, execution and learning phases.
  • Monitor team and program level risks and dependencies, sharing information with value stream stakeholders.
  • Identify and address team and program level disfunctions.
  • Closely collaborate at the program level with peers to ensure effective and efficient communication between teams.
  • Support program level workshops in training teams on Agile frameworks/methodology.
  • Be the change champion to create structural and cultural changes in the organization to become more agile.
  • Setup and drive CoP (communities of practice) within the program/portfolio.
  • Coach and mentor team members and leadership.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Technical understanding – as an Engineering Lead there will be expectations that you are able to lead technical discussions, challenge design and strategy (examples: cloud platforms, microservices, data transformation, process and quality automation)
  • Comfortable with continuously changing environments (examples: business priorities, new technologies)
  • Exhibit a high degree of understanding risk management; passion for your craft should also lead to expectations in quality, what is best in the interest of progress, and ability to communicate decisions and value in justification
  • Leverage and understand the use of analytics to enable day‑to‑day conversations and decision making
