Structural Designer - Power Generation at WSP in Canada. We are seeking a highly motivated Structural Designer to join our Energy division, with preference for Calgary, AB. You will be involved in projects across Canada and support upstream, midstream, or downstream oil and gas activities and energy transition markets at all stages of the project lifecycle.

• Verify project scope with the Lead; monitor project changes and promptly inform Lead of updates.
• Provide realistic time estimates for tasks.
• Develop an understanding of WSP’s and Client’s standard drawings, specifications, general practices, and procedures.
• Under minimal supervision, develop accurate structural engineering drawings including piling layouts / schedules, concrete layouts / details, structural steel layouts / details and architectural building drawings based on engineering sketches.
• Collaborate with engineers and other disciplines (Piping and Electrical) to coordinate design development and resolve issues.
• Actively participate in the checking process by reviewing markups.
• Use 3D / CAD software to produce Bills of Materials and Pile Schedules.
• Implement revisions based on markups from Engineers, Checkers, and Leads.
• Maintain organized filing systems for drawings and models per department, project, and client guidelines.
• Assist in training less experienced drafting personnel.
• Visit construction sites to assist in construction reviews, if required.
• Foster a supportive and communicative team environment with ownership and camaraderie.

• Engineering Design & Drafting Technology (EDDT) diploma
• 4+ years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, CADWorx, SP3D, Navis, MS Office, Bluebeam and SharePoint
• Diligent and organized with the ability to deliver high-quality work on time
• Adaptable multitasker who can juggle priorities in a fast-paced setting
• Enthusiastic problem-solver who proactively finds solutions
• Strong communicator and quick learner
• Coachable team player open to guidance from senior staff
