The Opportunity

The Opportunity:

Keewatin-Aski Ltd. is a team of seasoned professionals with over 40 years of practice in Northwestern Ontario. We are currently seeking a CAD and Civil 3D Designer to join our team.

This is a chance to become part of a well-established architectural and engineering firm, strategically located in Northern Ontario. The successful candidate will be integrated into our experienced team led by senior professionals and work on a variety of technical assignments with a focus on drafting and design production.

Given Keewatin-Aski’s wide service area, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a diverse range of technical skills contributing to well-rounded professional development. For those candidates with a diploma in civil engineering, mentoring towards licensure as a Professional Engineer under PEO is also offered.

Required Education, Skills and Experience
  • Preference for a Diploma in Civil Engineering obtained from an accredited Canadian college or university, or
  • Preference for a Degree in Civil Engineering obtained from an accredited Canadian university.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal, written and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member. Critical thinking skills are an asset.
  • Familiarity with drafting site plans, grading plans, surface works and linear infrastructure is an asset.
  • Applicants able to demonstrate previous experience with an engineering firm may receive enhanced consideration during candidate screening and evaluation.
Job Responsibilities
  1. Produce detailed site plans, grading plans, and surface models using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  2. Prepare plan/profile drawings for roads, watermains, sanitary sewers, and stormwater systems.
  3. Develop 3D surfaces, alignments, corridors, and pipe networks for infrastructure projects.
  4. Create tender and construction-ready drawing sets, including notes, details, and cross-sections.
  5. Support stormwater management design by preparing catchment plans and grading layouts.
  6. Generate quantity take-offs for earthworks, pipe materials, and surface works.
  7. Incorporate survey data into design models and verify accuracy.
  8. Provide technical drafting support during construction, including updates to drawings and clarification sketches.
  9. Occasionally support site visits to understand field conditions and verify design assumptions.
  10. Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards (Ontario Provincial Standards, municipal guidelines, TAC, etc.).
  11. Assist with as-built drawing preparation using contractor redlines and field data.
  12. Maintain organized project files, drawing sets, and version control within Keewatin-Aski’s digital workflow.
  13. Assist with the development of standard details, CAD templates, and drafting best practices.
