Job summary

An established engineering firm in Alberta is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Structural Engineer to join their structural team. The role involves project ownership, collaboration with clients and teams, and managing multiple projects effectively. The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years of experience, proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, along with strong knowledge of structural design codes and standards. This position is only open to individuals residing and legally authorized to work in Canada.

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA, or eligible for registration.

Job description

MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting on behalf of a well‑established engineering firm for an Intermediate or Senior Structural Engineer to join their structural team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work directly with clients and site personnel, and contribute to high‑quality structural design and delivery.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing multiple projects, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams throughout all phases of project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineering technologists using Revit and AutoCAD to develop structural drawings and contract documents, including specifications
  • Participate in client meetings to address design considerations, resolve issues, and coordinate with the broader design team
  • Maintain a strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
  • Review structural drawings, drawings from other disciplines, and shop drawings as part of internal QA/QC and construction coordination
  • Conduct site reviews for existing structures and projects under construction, including inspection of reinforcing steel, structural steel, and other structural elements
  • Independently manage multiple projects and deliverables while maintaining effective time management
  • Prepare structural reports, letters, and technical documentation using clear and concise language
  • Mentor and review the work of engineers‑in‑training and delegate tasks as appropriate
Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of industry experience in structural engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA, or eligible for registration
  • Strong knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and building codes
  • Solid understanding of structural systems, materials, industry standards, and construction methods
  • Ability to lead teams through all phases of project document production
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software
  • Strong working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD
  • Experience with applicable codes, including NBC‑AE, CSA S16, CSA A23, CSA O86, and CSA A371
