Our client, Climater Canada, is a subsidiary of the Climater Group, a major player in the building engineering sector, with over 40 companies in France, Switzerland, and Canada. Climater designs, constructs, maintains, and operates mechanical building systems (such as ventilation and plumbing) across industries such as industrial, healthcare, residential, commercial, office, and public facilities. Climater Canada directly or indirectly owns ten companies in the country, employing over 1,000 people and generating nearly $400 million in revenue.
To effectively support its rapidly growing Canadian operations, Climater Canada is looking to hire its first General Counsel in Canada.
Reporting to the Group General Counsel in France and working closely with the Canadian business teams, you will be responsible for all commercial and operational legal matters in Canada. On a day-to-day basis, you will provide a wide range of legal advice, covering both commercial law and risk management. You will participate in negotiating and drafting various commercial contracts, as well as conducting legal analyses of business opportunities related to potential acquisitions. You will oversee the insurance portfolio, ensure the company’s practices comply with applicable laws and regulations, implement procedures and templates, and provide internal training to various company departments. When needed, you will also act as the main point of contact with external lawyers in managing disputes or other matters requiring their involvement.
If you are recognized for your practical business sense, have strong relationship-building skills, and enjoy working in a team, we would love to speak with you! You must have at least 7 years of relevant experience in commercial law, ideally including some in the construction sector, be a member of the Quebec Bar, and be bilingual to be considered.
