We are looking for a Senior Equity Analyst, Sustainable Investing to join our leading Sustainable investment team. The Sustainable Investing team is responsible for providing clients with exposure to key themes within sustainable and impact investing falling under four macro themes which focus on solutions within Energy, Water, Waste and Health.

The fund focuses on companies that meet the sustainability issues facing the world using a disciplined thematic investment framework. The portfolio manager has identified a number of sustainability themes such as those associated with the energy transition, circular economy and sustainable agriculture, which may provide an investment framework through which to identify attractive opportunities. Companies of interest provide a product or solution to key sustainability challenges while demonstrating strong financial and ESG performance and improvement.

You will leverage your technical/industry knowledge and strong financial skills across multiple sectors and work with a strong pool of sector analysts to generate ideas and maintain coverage of existing positions.

Your Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain an expert level of knowledge of the fund’s existing positions and competitive context
• Maintain an expert level of knowledge of the sustainability issues facing the world
• Conduct in-depth fundamental research and analysis of sustainability themes and associated value chains and generate investment ideas for the Strategy
• Develop and maintain business relationships with company management teams and industry experts
• Model historical financial statements and project financial forecasts to determine equity valuations and recommendations; maintain models for coverage universe
• Assist with innovations in modelling the Strategies environmental footprint (carbon, water and other impact metrics) and linkage with the Sustainable Development Goals– liaise with relevant research providers
• Prepare verbal and written reports on sectors and stocks to communicate investment thesis
• Maintenance of research/coverage of themes; liaise with AGF’s sector analysts and meet with management of companies and sell-side analysts, attend conferences, review earnings releases, maintain models with relevant company updates and analysis, and continually review recommendations of existing investments
• Assist the Portfolio Management team in the maintenance of portfolios including positioning and trading
• Regularly update the portfolio team on company/industry news and developments
• Keep current on political and economic trends and events which could impact investment decisions
• Create and manage model portfolios for sector under coverage

Your Qualifications:

• 7+ years’ experience covering equities ideally with sector experiencing disruption due to sustainability themes (automotive, industrial, energy, agriculture, food)
• Technical (engineering, science, environmental management) undergraduate/graduate degree – MBA designation a positive consideration
• CFA designation (or working towards it) and/or strong financial markets experience
• Exceptional analytical financial and research skills
• Familiarity with environmental/ESG data sets
• Deep knowledge of valuation and extensive modeling experience
• Track record of superior stock picking ability
• Sound knowledge of corporate finance, equity and environmental markets
• Self-motivated, results driven and able to work independently
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Very strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
• Superior written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional computer skills – fluency in Bloomberg required
