The Vancouver Animal Emergency and Referral Centre is an established, cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary facility located in the heart of metro Vancouver. We have been providing emergency care in this community since 1978 and specialty services since 2015. In addition to Emergency care, we provide Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Radiology, Critical Care and Oncology services, with a Neurology service launch expected in early 2026.
Our Emergency Service is welcoming enthusiastic, highly motivated Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs) to join our ever-growing team!
Our Emergency RVTs will use their technical skills to the fullest and are given the necessary tools and resources to be successful in pursuing one or multiple passions within our hospital.
You will have opportunities to expand your learning through extensive exposure and involvement in various cases. Additional qualifications and attributes you must embrace to be successful in this role:
Perform a variety of clinical procedures including (not limited to): venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, in-house lab work, anesthesia/sedation monitoring, patient assessment, and emergency triage
Collaborate with a team and also work independently when required
Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment for pets and pet parents
Maintain strong interpersonal skills when working with colleagues and clients
Prioritize, problem-solve, and remain calm in stressful situations; adapt to changing circumstances
Maintain accurate medical records with strong organizational skills
Willingness to further enhance technical skills and expertise
Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT or eligible to register
Confident team player who can also work independently when required
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high level of care
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Schedule: The Emergency Service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position will include shifts in daytime, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts are typically 12 hours in length, 3 shifts/week.
Compensation: $27.00 to $38.00 per hour. The hourly rate range is for the primary location for which the job is posted and may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
