Job Purpose

UGL Transport Infrastructure and Assets is currently undergoing growth in the eMobility sector and is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to assist the business in successfully delivering projects focused on the engineering, design, procurement, site installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical charging infrastructure. In addition to project-specific responsibilities, the role will include supporting tender preparation and business development activities. This position is ideal for an engineer eager to grow their skills in engineering, project management, and business development within the electrical charging infrastructure and assets for transition to sustainable mobility across buses, road freight vehicle and marine vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager in coordinating and managing the engineering and design phase of the project.
  • Provide input and take lead in the production of various project engineering documentation (Design & Assurance, Programs, Engineering and Quality Plans, etc.).
  • Set up and manage various engineering processed and tools to control technical issues, risks, configuration and requirements compliance.
  • Monitor design teams including external design consultants (where applicable) to ensure that the elements of their design (including verification) are coordinated with overall design, procurement and construction requirements.
  • Review technical drawings, documents, and specifications for compliance with project requirements.
  • Assist in preparing project schedules, tracking progress, and providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the project management systems are followed for compliance by the engineering team.
  • Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of design resources allocated to the project.
  • Ensure that all necessary reviews, verifications and validations are planned and conducted, and the outcomes of these are incorporated into the design (including JV partner reviews).
  • Participate in design review meetings and close out design issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, clients, and suppliers to ensure smooth communication and efficient project execution.
  • Support the procurement process, including supplier engagement, reviewing technical bids, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment.
Qualifications
  • Degree qualification to Bachelor status in engineering (Mandatory)
  • EV charging equipment accreditations and/or certificate of EV industry or charger OEM training (Desirable)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally
  • At least 2 years’ engineering experience in a project environment (Mandatory)
  • Experience with electric vehicle or marine vessels charging systems and related charging assets highly desirable
