Job Title: Nocturnal Senior Histotechnologist (Healthcare Senior Professional)

The Department of Pathology is seeking a full‑time (1.0 FTE) nocturnal Histotechnologist to contribute to the overall efficiency of the laboratory and pathology practice. This position is responsible for preparing and histological processing of all surgical pathology specimens received in the Histology laboratory under minimal supervision, and requires independent judgment in the selection of methodologies utilized in processing tissue specimens and solving routine problems.
Performs duties with attention to detail, uses proper prioritization and does so in a timely manner. This includes but is not limited to embedding, microtomy, special stains, and Immunohistochemistry staining.
Performs and accurately QC’s complex staining techniques and demonstrates competency of immunohistochemical procedures to include in situ hybridization and immunofluorescent assays.
Follows all policies, procedures, and protocols set forth by the Histology Laboratory Leadership.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Assists in maintaining accreditation standards, to include filling out all quality‑control logs and following all Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Procedures.
Performs routine preventive maintenance and cleaning of all applicable equipment and workspaces.
Complete all UCD required training and compliance courses.
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

A bachelor’s degree in biology, health or social science or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
Two (2) years of experience working in a clinical histology lab.
Histotechnician or Histotechnologist Certification (HTL, ASCP) or certification eligible.
A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year‑for‑year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Three (3) years’ of experience in a clinical histology lab.
Immunohistochemistry Certification (QIHC, ASCP).

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $70,849 – $90,120.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
