About The Role
We\'re seeking a Head of Food Service to oversee all aspects of their culinary operations across multiple sites. This is a hands-on, senior leadership role where operational excellence, team management, and supplier relationships are key.
Responsibilities
- Operations management: Oversee food services in compliance with provincial and federal regulations, health & safety standards, and company policies
- Menu planning & execution: Design and execute menus tailored to clientele, aligned with contract scope and budget requirements
- Cost control & inventory: Manage inventory, conduct monthly audits, order appropriate quantities of food and supplies, and control labor and food costs
- Staff leadership: Oversee, train, mentor, and guide kitchen and food service teams to ensure professional and efficient operations
- Site operations & launches: Lead daily kitchen operations, implement standardized processes across sites, and coordinate new site openings
- Compliance & safety: Conduct daily safety meetings, inspect facilities and equipment, enforce safe work practices, and ensure preventative maintenance is completed
- Supplier & vendor management: Build relationships with suppliers, manage contracts, and ensure product quality and consistency
- Customer service: Liaise with clients, maintain positive relationships, and model high standards of customer service
- Cross-functional collaboration: Communicate professionally across all levels of the organization, working closely with culinary, operations, and leadership teams
- Other duties: Perform additional responsibilities as required to support operational excellence
Requirements
- 7+ years in food service operations management (scheduling, staffing, hiring, menu design, budget management)
- Experience collaborating with dietitians / nutritionists; background in dietetics / nutrition is a strong asset
- Proven ability to manage tight food budgets while maintaining quality
- Experience with Cisco or GFS suppliers preferred
- Long-term care (LTC) experience is ideal, but not required
- Familiarity with scaling operations across multiple sites
- Strong vendor management and staff scheduling skills
- Excited by tech-driven food service innovation and cross-functional collaboration with engineers
- Based in Montréal / Québec. If based in Toronto, open to frequent travel to Montreal (2 days every 2 weeks for non-local staff)
