Join our team as a Bilingual Senior Specialist, Benefits! In this role, you will be instrumental in administering, launching, and managing employee benefits programs across Canada and the US, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for employees and ODs. You’ll support employees and ODs with benefits administration and collaborate with the benefits team to resolve complex and escalated issues. You’ll lead specialized benefits initiatives and have a deep understanding of the company’s benefit offerings and technological systems.
This position is open to candidates located anywhere in Canada.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Executing benefits administration, addressing escalated benefits inquiries and issues
- Managing premium remittances, ensuring accurate processing through Payroll Earnings Import
- Conducting monthly audits on benefit eligibility status, enrollment, and terminations, collaborating with the payroll team to maintain up-to-date information
- Administrating leaves processes and coordinating pre-authorized debit deductions for premiums and arrears
- Reconciling retroactive premiums for those returning from leave or experiencing coverage or status changes
- Compiling and delivering detailed billing information to accounting for OD benefit plan deductions on a bi-weekly basis and maintaining the retired OD benefit plan
- Ensuring 100% compliance with government regulations regarding taxable benefits through quarterly reviews
- Researching and reporting on benefit issues resulting from changes in employment legislation, providing monthly updates to the benefits team
- Administering full-cycle employee benefit programs, including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, savings plans, optical benefits, employee assistance programs, and recognition programs
- Providing support for filing claims and checking claim status
- Supporting vendor, insurer, and service management, including coordinating quarterly meetings with providers
- Developing and implementing global benefits policies, SOPs, and processes, reviewing and updating annually
- Designing and launching communication initiatives to educate employees and ODs on benefits and upcoming initiatives
- Providing reports and analytics related to employee benefits, including cost analysis and usage trends
- Assisting with change of status processes to ensure benefits deduction groups are accurate and employment agreements are correctly reflected
- Refining and developing benefits policies aligned with organizational goals and values
- Updating bi-weekly and annual calendars with cyclical timing
- Providing support to benefits specialists as required
As the Successful Candidate You Have:
- Bilingualism (French/English) is required for daily communication with team members across Canada
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in a large organization
- Experience in a multi-province benefit environment
- Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Completion of the CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) is preferred
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits laws and regulations
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Project management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration software is an asset
- Knowledge of US benefits is an asset
