Job Description

Principal Role: Ensure that vessels under your responsibility comply with company principles, standards, policies, and meet legal (local and international) and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities:

1. Review documents such as the ship management contract and interface documents.
2. Manage maintenance activities, including preventive, planned, and corrective maintenance through systems, reports, and vessel inspections.
3. Oversee the technical performance of vessels and monitor spare parts/oil consumption and supplies to prevent damages.
4. Identify reasons for excessive or abnormal wear and develop strategies to control and rectify these issues in collaboration with the senior maritime operations manager.
5. Supervise repairs and conversions, including dry-docking, carried out by third-party workshops (specifications, bidding, evaluations, approvals, execution, budgeting, reporting).
6. Manage the supply of materials and services in cooperation with the vessel's Site Manager and purchasing department.
7. Verify with area managers any expenses exceeding the budget.
8. Inform vessels about budgets and current expenses related to technical items, aiming to reduce costs and motivate staff by raising awareness of supply and spare parts costs.
9. Monitor cycles, regulatory requirements, and organize periodic onboard inspections, ensuring the validity of classification, international, national, and specific certificates.
10. Plan and organize routine inspections to verify machinery condition, structural integrity, safety and navigation equipment, records, and reports.
11. Stay updated on legislative changes, classification standards, and other regulations.
12. Handle matters related to flag changes, buying and selling ships, according to international requirements.
13. Closely monitor the planned maintenance system onboard to ensure updates are implemented.
14. Maintain organized and up-to-date technical documentation, records, and reports, ensuring proper filing and compliance with office requirements.
15. Maintain effective communication with vessel operators and other stakeholders.
16. Suggest improvements to vessel procedures.
17. Establish connections with managers, insurers, salvage surveyors, and assist in preparing claims records (H&M).

Financial:

1. Prepare monthly reviews, quarterly, and annual reports on current and forecasted expenses for the vessel, submitting them within deadlines.
2. Initiate follow-up actions to keep expenses within budget parameters.
3. Prepare operational budgets for maintenance, dry-docking, and special inspections, coordinating with the buyer on economic intervals and costs.
4. Compare actual and budgeted expenses, taking corrective actions when deviations are identified.
5. Review and approve all invoices related to repairs, lubricants, spare parts, and supplies, maintaining verification through onboard records.

Personnel:

1. Coordinate, recruit, and assign crew for company vessels.
2. Ensure effective feedback for employee evaluations.
3. Support training and development of onboard and land-based staff to achieve desired productivity and motivation levels.
