Job description

The Planning Director is responsible for leading the overall planning and project controls function of the company to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery across all construction sites.

This position oversees the operational planning aspects of all ongoing and upcoming projects to ensure they are completed on time and in accordance with contractual requirements. The Planning Director leads the group of planners and planning managers, manages program planning, EOT claims, tender planning, coordination, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and mentor the planning team in developing comprehensive contract programs, revised programs, and recovery programs.
  2. Oversee the preparation of baseline and detailed project schedules, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements and construction methodologies.
  3. Draft and review contractual correspondences for Project Directors and management.
  4. Review and approve project schedules, recovery plans, and time impact analyses submitted by internal teams or subcontractors.
  5. Regularly review internal dashboards and progress reports.
  6. Review critical paths, propose strategic improvements, and collaborate with project teams.
  7. Develop recovery strategies with project stakeholders.
  8. Evaluate subcontractor schedules and reports for compliance and alignment with project goals.
  9. Manage the preparation and submission of EOT claims with delay analysis.
  10. Oversee technical submissions and planning deliverables during tender stages.
  11. Evaluate tender documents and advise management on project durations.
  12. Prepare tender programs, method statements, resource histograms, and cash flow forecasts.
  13. Collaborate with site teams for manpower planning and forecasting.
  14. Monitor project KPIs and critical paths, providing early warnings for delays and risks.
  15. Lead a team of planning engineers and project controllers across multiple projects.
  16. Report project status with analysis and recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in planning and project controls in construction/contracting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Power BI.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure, building, or industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of FIDIC contracts and delay analysis techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Key competencies include strategic thinking, risk management, decision-making, contractual awareness, technical planning, leadership, and team management.
