Job description

We are currently recruiting a well-qualified and experienced Head of Inclusion to join our reputed UK curriculum School in Dubai. The ideal candidate must have a thorough understanding of the KHDA Inclusion framework and having associated in a similar capacity with schools of repute in UAE.

Prime Responsibilities:

Develop and oversee the strategic development of special education needs policy and provision in the school, to support individual student needs.

Lead the inclusion team- manage learning support teachers, LSA’s and support staff to improve pupil progress and attainment.

Experience of using a variety of assessment tools to identify students’ needs.

Work with admissions team and phase Heads, to ensure all prospective students are accurately assessed prior to enrollment.

Monitor and assess SEN students & Gift and talented students progress and attainment, including observations in the classroom and meeting with teachers and parents.

Work with classroom teachers, the school leadership team, parents and relevant external agencies to develop, implement and monitor IEP’s.

Provide regular updates on pupil progress through written reports and meetings with parents.

Make referrals and liaise with professionals - this could include psychologists, health and social care providers, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists.

Provide advice, guidance and training to classroom teachers on supporting pupils with SEN.

Support teachers to develop modified lesson plans, schemes of work and learning programmes for pupils with SEN.

Support teachers to develop and implement effective teaching and behaviour management approaches in the classroom.

Manage and advise on the resources for SEN provision.

Leading CPD, briefings, projects and activities.

Develop and maintain systems for keeping pupil records, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.

Manage the inclusion register and associated documents to ensure accuracy and transparency.

Oversee the teaching and support of our SEND and G&T students across the school.

Liaise with all stakeholders including, parents, external therapists and external providers. Analyse school, local and national data and develop appropriate strategies and interventions.

Keep up to date with national and local policies related to SEN and cascade information to colleagues.

Qualifications & experience:

A Bachelor or masters Degree in Special Education.

A certified teaching qualification such as B.Ed.

At least 2 years of experience leading a successful Inclusion team in the UAE and having led DSIB inspections.
