Job summary

A national conservation organization is seeking a Specialist Assistant: Boma to support wildlife care in Kimberley. This full-time role involves feeding wildlife, maintaining boma facilities, and assisting with wildlife handling during projects. Suitable candidates will possess at least a Grade 12 certificate and a C1 driver’s license with PDP, alongside strong communication and project management skills. A background in wildlife care of 1-4 years is required, and experience with chainsaws or first aid is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-4 years in the wildlife capture industry/care of wildlife in holding facilities.
• First aid level 1 will serve as an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide fodder and water to wildlife in the holding facility.
• Maintain facility hygiene and remove animal waste.
• Assist in handling of wildlife during projects.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.

Skills

Communication skills (verbal and written)

Project management/administration experience

Operating a chainsaw or brush cutter

Education

Matric (Grade 12)

Code C1 driver’s licence with PDP
