A logistics company in Mpumalanga seeks an experienced truck driver to operate heavy-duty vehicles safely. You will be responsible for transporting goods, conducting vehicle inspections, and ensuring compliance with transport regulations. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license with Professional Driving Permit and a clean driving record. This role requires excellent driving skills, communication abilities, and a commitment to safety.
18 years old for a Code 10 license (medium trucks)
21 years old for a Code 14 license (heavy trucks and trailers
Enroll in a certified driving school that offers truck driver training. This prepares you for both the theory and practical tests.
A valid medical certificate from a registered practitioner is required to confirm you’re fit to drive heavy vehicles.
You must apply for a PDP at a DLTC and pass a criminal background check.
Candidate with some driving history.
Working hours can be long and irregular, especially for long-haul routes.
Operate heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles in a safe and lawful manner.
Transport goods and materials to designated locations according to delivery schedules.
Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any defects or maintenance needs.
Ensure all documentation (trip sheets, delivery notes, logbooks, fuel slips) is accurately completed and submitted.
Adhere to company transport policies and road traffic regulations.
Ensure the secure loading and offloading of goods to prevent damage or loss.
Maintain cleanliness and care of the assigned vehicle.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, fleet controllers, and customers.
Report any incidents, delays, or route changes promptly.
Support general yard duties when required.
Valid Code EC or Code C1 / C driver’s license with PrDP (Professional Driving Permit).
Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in long-distance or local truck / commercial driving.
Sound knowledge of South African road routes and transport regulations.
Experience with heavy-duty trucks, trailers, or commercial delivery vehicles.
Basic mechanical understanding (advantageous).
Clean driving record and excellent safety awareness.
Responsible, reliable, and punctual.
Excellent driving and defensive driving skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and handle long hours or shift work.
High attention to detail and commitment to road safety.
Professional appearance and conduct.
