Job description

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Trainer to play a key role in enhancing organisational performance by developing the skills and knowledge of individuals and teams. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging training programmes both in-person and online.

Core responsibilities include assessing training needs, creating instructional materials, and ensuring participants achieve defined learning objectives. You will facilitate interactive sessions, provide constructive feedback, and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives to drive continuous improvement.

Success in this position requires strong communication skills, subject matter expertise, adaptability, and the ability to foster a positive learning environment that promotes growth and development.

Specific Duties
  • Provide training and consulting services to our customers on the effective use and operation of our operational solutions.
  • Update product related documentation for new releases.
  • Standardize internal onboarding training for technicians and project engineers across all portfolios.
  • Conduct system audits, measure and analyze production performance and provide recommendations for operations improvements.
  • Assist with tenders and requirements scoping for potential projects.
  • Conduct pre-sales tasks including configuration testing and field trials.
  • Assist sales teams with technical expertise relating to sales proposals and system usage requirements.
  • Perform troubleshooting of high-level system issues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new training documents.
  • Identifying issues and opportunities for improvement with Hexagon Mining operational systems installed at customer mine sites and re-configuring system as required.
  • Providing training to operators, mine controllers, maintenance personnel and other customer personnel in the use and operation of systems at client sites.
  • Preparing scoping and requirements documentation.
  • Preparing reports on the performance of the deployed solution at the client site and recommendations for improvements as required.
  • Communicating directly with customers and assisting Business Development and Account Managers with new opportunities and existing account relationships.
  • Utilizing relationships developed with customers and other contacts to advise sales team of potential issues affecting customers as well as other opportunities for Hexagon Mining.
  • Taking ownership and responsibility for customer issues and problems and seeing them through to resolution wherever possible.
  • Compliance with Hexagon Mining’s Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures (and those of clients’ sites visited), participation in audits and compliance with instructions given in respect to the health and oneself and the safety of others.
  • Be available for on call for support as required (primarily escalations)
  • Attend site and company meetings in person or remotely.
  • Attend trade shows as required in a technical capacity.
  • Facilitate client workshops.
  • Representing Hexagon Mining in a helpful, professional and courteous manner at all times.
  • Other duties as required from time to time.
Qualifications
  • At least 5 years’ experience with mining. Global experience desirable.
  • Degree or diploma in Mining, Electronics, Computer Engineering or related fields.
  • Assessor and facilitator certifications are mandatory, while a moderator certification is considered advantageous.
  • Registration with relevant SETA.

  • Skills in training and onboarding staff during transitions. Adaptable to fluid environment, and management of tight deadlines.
Technical Understanding
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server) desirable.
  • Experience with data analytical tools such as SSRS, Microsoft Power BI is desirable.
  • Keen interest in providing a superior level of customer service and support to our clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and be trained in Hexagon products.
