Job summary

A prominent construction and costing company in Pretoria is seeking a quantity surveyor student to support commercial and costing functions. This role offers practical experience in project costing and financial planning within the construction environment. The ideal candidate is a South African unemployed youth aged between 18 and 34, willing to learn and holds a relevant qualification such as a diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying. Responsibilities include preparing quotes, maintaining price lists, and compiling BOQs.

• South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
• Must not have participated on the YES programme before.
• Matric is required.
• No experience is required, but willingness to learn is necessary.

• Compile detailed BOQs for small and large-scale projects.
• Ensure quantities and descriptions are accurate and aligned with project specifications.

About the role

The quantity surveyor student will be supporting the commercial and costing functions of the company by preparing quotations, bill of quantities (BOQs) and cost estimates for all projects. The role offers practical experience in project costing and financial planning within the construction environment. The Job holder will report to our Senior QS manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive quotation to clients.
• Gather material, labour and equipment pricing essential for cost buildup.
• Maintain updated price lists and supplier information.
• Compile detailed BOQs for small and large-scale projects.
• Ensure quantities and descriptions are accurate and aligned with project specifications.
• Assist in cost tracking during project execution.
• Maintain proper documentation for all costing activities.

Minimum Requirements

• South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
• Must not have participated on the YES programme before.
• Matric.
• N Diploma/ National Diploma/ Bsc, B-Eng, B-Tech in Quantity Surveying.
• No Experience is required.
• Must be willing to learn.
