Introduction
We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Sales Representative with a strong background in solar energy systems to join our team. The role requires a unique combination of technical knowledge and sales expertise to promote and sell our range of inverters, batteries, and solar solutions. He/She must have their own car/driver's licence.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities and maintain strong relationships with existing customers (installers, distributors, and end-users).
- Provide technical guidance on product selection, system design, and applications.
- Prepare and deliver quotations, proposals, and presentations tailored to client needs.
- Understand and explain the technical specifications of solar inverters, batteries, and PV systems to clients.
- Conduct site visits, system assessments, and technical demonstrations when required.
- Achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales targets.
- Collaborate with the technical and after-sales team to ensure seamless customer support.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of solar industry trends, competitor activities, and market opportunities.
Engineering or Natural Sciences
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Electronics, or related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in solar product sales, technical sales, or system design.
- Solid knowledge of solar system architecture (PV, inverter, battery, balance of system).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and provide technical solutions.
- Familiarity with South African solar standards (SANS, NRS) is an advantage.
- Strong sales, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM tools.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel across regions.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of Afrikaans or African languages (Zulu, Xhosa, etc.) will be an advantage.
- Previous experience working with solar manufacturers or major distributors.
- Professional certifications (e.g., ECSA registration, PV GreenCard) are a plus.
- Proven track record of closing technical sales in the solar industry.
Package & Remuneration
Basic, commission and fuel, cellphone allowance. A base salary that is market related will be provided dependent on his/her ability to sell and grow the business. A product testing and interpersonal fit testing will be done to assess further salary expectations.
