Introduction
Join our client’s growing renewable-energy team as a Technical Sales Engineer, where you’ll blend engineering know‑how with business development to win and deliver commercial‑scale solar projects across the Western Cape. You’ll be the technical face to clients, guiding site assessments, crafting proposals, and closing deals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Client Engagement & Site Surveys: Lead on‑site visits to gather requirements, assess roof/ground conditions, and analyse energy usage.
- Technical Design & Feasibility: Develop preliminary PV system layouts, single‑line diagrams, and energy‑yield simulations (e.g. PVsyst/Helioscope).
- Costing & Proposals: Build detailed CAPEX/OPEX estimates, ROI/payback analyses, and professional proposal documents.
- Sales Cycle Management: Present solutions, negotiate contracts, and drive opportunities from lead generation through to signed agreement.
- Business Development: Identify new prospects in the C&I market, network at industry events, and maintain a healthy sales pipeline via CRM.
- Handover Coordination: Compile and transfer technical dossiers to the project‑execution team, and support during project kickoff.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Engineering Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy)
- 5+ Years’ Experience in solar PV costing, or technical sales (200kW–2MW scale)
- Strong Technical Skills: PV system design, energy‑yield modelling, electrical calculations, and single‑line diagrams
- Sales Acumen: Proven client‑facing, presentation, and negotiation experience in a B2B environment
- Software Proficiency: PVsyst or equivalent, Microsoft Excel (financial modelling), and CRM tools - desired
- Driver’s License & Field Availability: Regular travel to client sites in and around Cape Town
