Overview

Supply Chain & Admin Assistant for Drilling Operations – Gambella, Ethiopia. Plan International is seeking a candidate to support the efficient implementation of drilling operations through timely procurement, logistics, inventory management, and administrative support for the drilling and supply chain teams. The role aims to ensure availability and safe management of tools, equipment, and materials while maintaining compliance with organizational and donor requirements. This position supports smooth, cost-effective, and timely drilling, installation, and maintenance of shallow wells and boreholes, even in challenging field conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with procurement, logistics, inventory management, and administrative tasks to support drilling operations.
  • Ensure safe handling and availability of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational and donor requirements in all supply chain and administrative processes.
  • Support timely drilling, installation, and maintenance activities in field environments.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or administrative roles; preferably within NGOs, construction, drilling, or heavy equipment operations.
  • Experience supporting drilling rig operations, construction works, or related heavy equipment activities.
  • Experience working in remote, hard-to-reach, or emergency field environments is an asset.
Desirable Skills/Experience
  • Basic knowledge of shallow well drilling operations, tools, and safe equipment handling.
  • Strong understanding of procurement procedures, fleet management, warehousing, purchasing, and inventory control systems.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office, reporting, and record-keeping.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance in field and operational activities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams and cross-functional partners in remote environments.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work long hours in outdoor, hot, and rugged conditions as required by drilling operations.
Languages
  • English (written and spoken); Amharic required. Knowledge of local languages is desirable.
Safeguarding and GEI
  • Understands and practices safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct; reports concerns per procedures.
  • Inducts staff on safeguarding and GEI policies within the unit/department.
  • Embeds safeguarding and GEI in day-to-day work and reporting.
  • Participates in pre-employment checks in line with safeguarding policies and related schemes.
