Job summary

A leading mining company in Rustenburg seeks an experienced candidate to manage financial operations, ensure safety and health compliance, and foster stakeholder relationships. The ideal applicant will possess an NQF 4 certificate, a COM Strata Control Certificate, and at least 5 years of relevant experience, alongside a commitment to operational excellence and safety. This role combines operational and people management responsibilities to drive excellence across mining operations.

  • Ensure costs are controlled and wastage eliminated.
  • Support the execution of the organisational development plan.

  • Provide coaching and on-the-job training to staff.
  • Develop and implement proactive safety measures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management
  • Ensures that costs are controlled and wastage of resources is eliminated by working within prescribed budgets. Reports deviations to Supervisor. Building a values-based organisational culture
  • Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment. ESG Compliance
  • Align to international responsible mining principles.
  • SA Gold Operations: Align to World Gold Council (WGC) Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs).
  • SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative.
  • US PGM Operations: Enhance together for ICCM principles. SHE Compliance
  • Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment.
  • Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. SHE Management:
  • Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the section.
  • Participate in regional/local bodies and decision-making forums in the process developing a business relevant external environment, that will result in the longer-term sustainability of the Division. Quality Management System (QMS):
  • Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System. Focus on safe production & operational excellence
  • Focus on safety and health as well as operational excellence

  • Provide coaching and on-the-job training to reporting staff.
  • Manage performance and development of reporting staff.

  • Strata Control
  • Ensures that safe quality of work is achieved daily by developing and implementing a proactive approach to all safety Strata Control issues in the workplace which requires the effective co-ordination and supervision of the support functions.
  • Presents information to management in the form of reports
  • Provides advice based on specialist knowledge information received,
  • Scrutinize submitted data from the workplace and providing feedback.
  • Attends and participates in meetings by providing required information.
  • Keeps abreast of latest relevant Strata Control developments, innovations and technologies.
  • Assists with the maintenance and updates of relevant policies, procedures and regulations in line with current trends and developments and based on own specialist knowledge.
  • Performs any other activities necessary for the effective completion of his / her work. Stakeholder Relations
  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.
  • Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable.
Additional Requirements
