Job description

Contract End Date - 02 / 03 / The SHEQ Specialist is responsible for ensuring safe, environmentally responsible, and incident-free operations across all logistics facilities.

This role plays a key part in supporting Astron Energy's vision of being the "Most Admired Operation for its Safety, Health, and Environmental principles" in every area it operates. The incumbent provides expert advice and practical support to management, staff, contractors, and third‑party partners, ensuring full compliance with all Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

The job requires the incumbent to travel and be of a licensed ability (code 08 as a minimum) to drive a light motor vehicle for company business in SA. Professional Qualification and Certifications: National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related discipline (essential). 3‑5+ years' experience in a Health, Environment & Safety role, preferably within logistics, oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial operations. In‑depth understanding of OHS Act, environmental legislation, and risk management principles. Proven experience influencing and training personnel across all organizational levels. Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills. Basic understanding and knowledge of Construction Regulations – Registration with SACPCMP, would be advantageous.
